Yin Yoga
Tuesday 11.15 Yin & Sound bath. Thursday 19.45 Candlelit Yin
Service Description
TUESDAY Yin Yoga & Sound bath. Sink into stillness and let the world fall away… In this deeply restorative class, we move slowly and mindfully, softening into long-held poses that gently release tension from deep within the body. The soothing sounds of the Tibetan singing bowls help to release tension even further - calming the nervous system, quieting the mind, and inviting a deep sense of peace. A practice of presence, rest and renewal. THURSDAY Candlelit Yin Yoga. Slow down and let the soft glow of candlelight guide you inward. In this deeply restful class, we melt into long-held poses that gently release tension from the body and quiet the mind. A soothing, candlelit space to breathe, soften and simply be. Yin is a slow, soothing but often intense style of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues, fascia, tendons, ligaments and joints in the body. It also focuses on stimulating different acupressure points from Traditional Chinese Medicine. In Yin Yoga, we hold mostly passive poses for two to five minutes to work into the connective tissues. The more we work our fascial system and deep tissues, the less dense and tight our bodies become as we age. Applying gentle stress to our connective tissues makes them stronger, hydrate the fascia and literally help slow the ageing process. Lengthening extremely tight tissues can be an uncomfortable practice, but using this time to focus on breathing is a large part of Yin Yoga and also one of the many Yin Yoga benefits. Typically when we experience discomfort, our bodies naturally become tense and Yin Yoga teaches us to reroute the mind and slow the heart rate when we experience discomfort. Eventually, your mind will remain relaxed throughout your entire practice and you will be able to release the tension and more easily stretch your connective tissues.
