How to Pause. Reset. Find the Stillness within
If you've never been to a yin yoga class but seen it on our schedule then you may be wondering what to expect and how this kind of practice may differ to other styles of yoga?
Yin yoga is a slower, more meditative style of yoga that focuses on holding passive poses for extended periods of time, typically anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes, and sometimes even longer. The goal is to target the deep connective tissues of the body—like the fascia, ligaments, and joints—rather than the muscles, which is the focus in more dynamic styles like Vinyasa or Hatha.
In Yin yoga, poses are typically seated or lying down, and the emphasis is on relaxing the muscles to allow the body to sink deeper into the stretches. This long-held, gentle approach encourages a state of deep relaxation and mindfulness, which can help to improve flexibility, increase circulation, and promote a sense of calm.
Yin yoga can also be seen as a balance to more intense or active practices, offering time for introspection and allowing your body to release tension and stress on a deeper level.
If you usually join us for a dynamic yoga class why not book in for some yin alongside it this week and invite some yin to your yang?
