Finding Your Flow: Exploring the Different Styles of Yoga 🧘♀️💚
Yoga is a practice that can help us move, breathe, slow down and reconnect with ourselves — and with so many different styles to explore out there and indeed at the studio, there really is something for everyone, every mood, every day
Whether you’re completely new to yoga or looking to try something different, discovering the right style can be an exciting part of your journey.
🌿 Hatha Yoga
Hatha is often a wonderful place to start. It generally offers a slower-paced practice, focusing on traditional yoga postures, breathing and mindful movement. It can be a great way to build confidence while becoming more familiar with the foundations of yoga.
🌊 Vinyasa Yoga
If you enjoy movement and a little more flow, Vinyasa could be for you. Postures are linked together with the breath, creating a flowing and often energising practice. Every class can feel a little different, making it a lovely way to explore movement creatively.
🔥 Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga is a more structured and physically demanding style, following a set sequence of postures. It combines movement, breath and concentration and can be particularly rewarding for those who enjoy consistency and a stronger physical practice.
🌙 Yin Yoga
For something much slower and deeply restful, Yin offers the opportunity to pause and soften. Poses are typically held for longer periods, encouraging stillness and mindful awareness. It's a beautiful practice when you need to slow down and create some space for yourself.
😴 Yoga Nidra
Sometimes referred to as yogic sleep, Yoga Nidra is a guided practice designed to encourage deep relaxation and conscious rest. There is little physical movement involved, making it perfect for those days when your body and mind simply need permission to switch off.
🎶 Sound & Restorative Practices
Some yoga classes incorporate sound, meditation, breathwork or restorative postures, creating a gentle and nurturing experience. These practices can be wonderful when your priority is relaxation rather than physical challenge.
So, which yoga is right for you?
The beauty of yoga is that there isn't one right way to practise. Some days you may want to move, stretch and energise; on others, you may simply want to breathe, rest and be still.
Yoga invites us to listen to what we need in the present moment — and that can change from day to day.
So why not try something new? Step onto your mat without expectation, take a breath and see where your practice takes you. 💚
